Beth and James – A Romantic February Wedding in the Southern Highlands

With the roses blooming and only three days after Valentine’s Day, Bethany and James had a very romantic wedding in The Secret Garden this February. The ceremony was held on The Rose Lawn, with drinks and canapés under The Wisteria Arbour and a full marquee reception on The Lake Lawn with an outdoor dance floor, band and plenty of dancing well into the evening.

When Beth and James first came to see The Secret Garden, they were looking for a venue that would allow them to put together a unique wedding that reflected who they are and what they like.

They also wanted to get various members of the family involved in the day, from Beth’s father building the stunning setting for their ceremony to friends and family doing design and styling on the day.

Being able to offer them the ability to completely customise and DIY their wedding was ultimately what led them to choosing The Secret Garden for their special day.

The highlight of the ceremony was a wonderful outdoor chapel. Beth’s dad constructed a beautiful entrance way, complete with opening doors and at the ceremony site a wooden chancel containing a 100-year-old stained glass window under which vows were exchanged.

Beth’s Dad also had lots of fun producing a range a of humorous signs to direct guest to various places in the garden.

All the material for the construction came from Beth’s Pop’s home, who had recently passed away, giving the structures even more significance. These personal touches really did make for a very special day for this beautiful couple.

Beth’s mum coordinated the hiring of the marquee (and everything in it), caterers, drinks van, cool room, toilets and various other items necessary for a magnificent garden reception. It was a huge task which was completed to perfection, and a real testament to the idea of having a true “family affair” for your wedding.

It was lovely to see the Bride, the Bride’s family, the Groom and his brother putting together the outdoor chapel, arranging seating plans, signs and lots of other things that were needed on the day. This level of family involvement personalises the event and makes it special for everyone.

After the ceremony Beth and James were able to wander through the whole five acres of The Secret Garden to capture some beautiful photos that they will cherish forever. Whilst taking this time together with their bridal party, family and guests enjoyed refreshments in the cool of The Wisteria Arbour before heading over to the marquee to enjoy a fabulous reception and dance the night away.
At The Secret garden we are able to be very flexible and allow brides and grooms to have the ability to create a special day that reflects their personality and is unique to them.
